In contrast to hub motor, mid-drive motor does not transmit power directly to the wheel, but to the bike chain. This means that the rear gear of the bike can also be used with the assistance of the motor, giving more power and an edge uphill. Other advantages include the fact that the mid-drive motor allows for better balance while riding, providing ideal weight distribution, a low center of gravity and a very natural riding experience.
