High-Temperature Direct Extruder

The largest slice of excitement surrounding the Aquila S2 is the new extruder. It is a direct extruder, taking the filament directly from the spool and heating it up as high as 300 °C.

PEI Magnetic Build Plate

PEI, Polyetherimide’s rap name, is a thermoplastic with some pretty impressive properties that include strong resistance to low and high temperatures and chemicals.

Color UI with Rotary Knob

Returning from other Aquilas is the color UI that isn’t touchscreen, but that doesn’t matter because the rotary knob works just fine and the UI is clear, easy to navigate, and easy to understand.

32-Bit Mainboard Options

The Aquila S2 is launching with two different 32-bit mainboards - the H32 and N32. Both are open source and support DIY mods.

USB/MicroSD Connectivity

Use the USB, MicroSD’s have a habit of disappearing quicker than a cat that’s just been told it has an appointment with the vet this afternoon.

Quiet Running

Voxelab says the Aquila S2 will produce 50 dB of noise, which is fairly quiet, something like the noise of a quiet office. Not the All3DP office though, that’s always full of pumping tunes.
